I really like Nicki Minaj.

I know it doesn’t matter, but I wonder if she’d like me? Anyways, this article, The Passion of Nicki Minajin The New York Times Magazine, by Vanessa Grigoriadis, was fascinating. Some excerpts below, from Grigoriadis and quoted from Minaj:

  • “‘‘You have to be like a beast — that’s the only way they respect you,’’ she said, in a soft-focus MTV documentary on her life, explaining that she walks out of photo shoots when there’s ‘‘a $50 clothes budget and some sliced pickles.” *
  • “‘‘That’s the typical thing that women do. What did you putting me down right there do for you?’’ she asked. ‘‘Women blame women for things that have nothing to do with them. I really want to know why — as a matter of fact, I don’t. Can we move on, do you have anything else to ask?’’ she continued. ‘‘To put down a woman for something that men do, as if they’re children and I’m responsible…” *
