Mabel
Version 1
I made this gal, yesterday, in a class offered at Gather Here. Easy, just a couple of pieces to cut. I used this patterned jersey knit that has a bit of stretch. Next time, I’d cut a bit smaller-I’m generally between sizes in every store in the nation and in the size guide included with the pattern.
Pre wash or you’ll cut 17 inches with 3/8″ seam allowance, but wind up with a super mini skirt, which I am pretty sure will be my story. I wanted something I could wear in public, drop-things-and-bend-over-to-pick-up-without– flashing-passerby, and that would pass the high school test (hem in line at least with your longest finger, when your arms straight pressed to your sides).
Definitely recommend the pattern. It’s an easy and fun pattern to sew. I used a serger for most of the construction, and a dual needle with a long stitch (alternative option is a stretch stitch with a walking foot) on a sewing machine for the last step, the 1″ hem.
