Non work/non academic/non achievement…achievement…things are hard to hook into, to make a habit. It’s hard to not turn in a new thing into an achievement centered thing. The enjoyment still might be there but the pressure and stresses around typical academic things sneaks up and blockades the just for fun thing. Also, with painting, you wind up with paintings you love and feel attached to-but they are just there, taking up space. It’s fine if no one else ever cares about them, but the habit of creating something “without a purpose” is hard to shake.
